After our calendar book and morning meeting we were ready to jump into math. Today was a new lesson and more work with division. We are really seeming to get the hang of multiplication and some of us are able to draw a picture to show us how to divide. We have learned that MULTIPLICATION and DIVISION are opposite operations and after our math whole group lesson we spent some time with ZEARN, at our GAME center, and with Mrs. Renn working out of our orange math workbooks. Each rotation lasted about 12 minutes long and before we knew it, it was time to move on to READING.
For reading we reread our story and completed a SCAVENGER HUNT paper where we had to skim through the story to answer a few questions about the young boy we have been reading about. Boy has his bartering taught us a lot. Today rather than trading with each other, we began trading around the school. We started with a PAPERCLIP and after our classroom mayors traded the paperclip for a pen, the pen for a sucker, the sucker for a chocolate bar, we somehow ended up with a CRAB. Yep a classroom pet! Oh boy wonder what we will be able to trade the crab for! This is FUN!!
We also have a NEW SPELLING LIST in our take home folders. This copy is for our fridge so that we can study all week. This week we are learning the "ACE" and the "ICE" hunk and chunks. These really seem to help us with our spelling words. It's gonna be hard to beat 15 100%'s on Friday, but I have faith that this class can make that happen! Practice those words when you have some free time this week for me!
We finished our day with some DAILY FIVE time and then a recess. Again I am super PROUD of you all for your behavior today! GUESS WHAT?! I WILL BE IN OUR ROOM TOMORROW and I CANNOT wait! Don't forget to show mom and dad your agenda this evening and please be sure to clean out BLUE FOLDERS so that tomorrow we can start fresh!
Hope your evening has been a good one! Can't wait to see you in the morning!
