This week, we began our study of The Story of the Statue of Liberty on Tuesday since we didn't have school on Monday due to Easter Break. It is amazing to me that this Statue, which represents America's freedom, is so huge! After we read the story on Monday, we went outside and walked the 168 steps on the playground. This is how many steps it takes to walk up inside the actual statue itself.
We also started our Tuesday by cutting out and sorting our new spelling words, which end in -ing. We discussed the rules, such as dropping the e and adding the ending, doubling the consonant and doing nothing before adding the -ing. I am hopeful our spelling test grades are better than they were last week!
On Friday, we took our multiplication test and I am happy to report that several of you mastered your test! I will be rewarding you with $20 classroom money on Monday morning!
This coming week looks to be a busy one! We will have our regular school day on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will be heading up to Cowtown for a field trip. A note will be going home giving more information to your parents about the trip. The color run will take place on Thursday afternoon and will follow the same schedule as it would have last Friday before it rained. We are hopeful that the rain stays away these two days so we can get to have those two fun activities! We also HOPE to have our AR party on Friday afternoon to celebrate your hard work for March and April!
I also wanted to end this blog by telling you that this is my last week working with you all and Mrs. Jenkins in 3rd grade. My student teaching program is ending and I will be working as a substitute teacher and attending meetings for the next two weeks to prepare me for my very own classroom next year! I am sooooo thankful I got to be with each of you every day and will miss you all and Mrs. Jenkins so very much! I do hope that I will be able to pop in and visit a few times before school is out. You are ALL very special to me and I will look forward hearing about your progress in 4th grade next year!!!! See you all on Monday for a very exciting week of FUN!!! :)
