After this we played a JEOPARDY game to review for our selection test. EVERYONE worked really hard on this and and did a great job! They really seem to understand the material when we are going over it together, but then when they take the test they struggle some. No one earned a 100% today which was a little disappointing. We did have a few of them REALLY, REALLY close though so hopefully our next story will go better. You might remind them that they CAN use their reading book as they are taking the test to look their answers up! Today ADDI was the only one I caught doing this and she did get an A on the test so it paid off! WAY TO GO ADDI! KEEP UP THE SUPER WORK!
In math we worked on our multiplication songs, our random number lesson, and then tried another STICK CHALLENGE. It was a tough one, but it also gave us the opportunity to practice with words like ISOSCELES, EQUILATERAL, LINE SEGMENT, and SIMILAR. No group was able to come up with the solution but when we worked it out as a class they understood. I told them that problem solving is a HARD skill for sure, but we will ALL get it as long as we continue to practice.
We ended the day with a FUN grammar game. The kids built three sentences from word cards I gave them. They had to be sure each sentence had a couple of nouns, a verb, at least one adjective, at least one adverb, at least 2 articles, and then they could throw in a preposition if they chose to. It was GOOD to review the parts of speech and I loved seeing what they came up with. We had a SILLY BUNNY and a SMART TURKEY before we finished! =)
They need to finish homework packets for sure and it would be a TERRIFIC idea to study spelling words so they are ready for their spelling test tomorrow.
*Also tomorrow is CANNED FOOD item count time so if you are able to help our class towards winning the donuts they would LOVE you even more! Thank you so much for all you have contributed already!
*One more FUN thing to tell you... Tomorrow is Hagen's birthday and his mom is bringing us ALL pizza for lunch! We are going to eat in the classroom together to help him celebrate and no one will need a LUNCH thanks to the Bryant's! =)
Have a GREAT evening!
