At morning meeting we talked about Miss Campbell who has been student teaching at Washington and was here this morning to visit our classroom. We sure enjoyed having her. She watched a lot of what Miss Jamison's side did before math and then checked out how we handled our math menu and our rotations. She's gonna make a GREAT teacher next year and we hope we have a chance to team up with her class sometime.
In math we worked more on graphing and learned all about LINE PLOTS. Every single one of us did a GREAT job with this. I was super impressed with how quickly everyone caught on to this type of graph and how well they were able to read data once it was placed on this graph.
After math, MISS ELLIE HAYS, MISS ALARA WILSON, and MR. LUKE ZEKA accompanied me to Big Cheese for mastering either their 8's in multiplication or their division facts. It was a GREAT lunch and we talked and ate until we had to rush back to school for the afternoon. WAY TO GO YOU THREE! I am super proud of you! We have another chance to make it to a celebration lunch so be ready to test on those multiplication facts tomorrow!
In reading this afternoon, we read "Jalapeno Bagels" and talked about how we see fractions in things like recipes. Pablo is needing a recipe for a class bake sale and he helps his mom and dad at their bakery while he tries to decide what to take. He shares his recipe for bagels so next week we are going to try our hand at making some of these ourselves. I cannot wait! They sounded yummy in our story, and I am sure we will be able to make them even better than I expect!
To end the day, we cleaned up and went outside for a short recess. Please don't forget that we need your MOVIE money for our trip to the Regent tomorrow. It is $5 for a pop, popcorn, and the movie. We should have a great day for the walk there and back! Good luck to our 4th and 5th graders as they compete at their CITY WIDE TRACK MEET.
Have a SUPER evening and I will see you in the morning! Our NEW MAYORS can help us with our WOODEN ROSE SALES! Remember we need to sell, sell, sell these roses as our last class fundraiser this year!
See you in the morning!
