Can I get a YIPEE! We have FINALLY finished all of our computer testing for the year! State assessments and MAPS testing are in the books! WOO HOO! The class did a great job the last couple of days on our MAPS tests. All of them took their time and tried their very hardest which is all a teacher can ask for. At the end of the nine weeks when we send report cards with them for the summer, I will include a print out that shows their MAPS results. Most of them showed lots of growth this year which is always exciting to see!
After MAPS testing this morning we worked more with our story, "How My Family Lives in America". Today we reread April's section of the story and talked a lot about China. We are lucky because we have Miss Vivian in our class and she shared a lot of information with us about how to write different things in Chinese and how to pronounce some of the harder words which was a big help to us. Selection Tests will be on Thursday this week and this is a story with lots of information and several facts so it would be a good idea to reread it or to listen to it on our website. You can never hear it or read it too many times before TEST DAY.
This afernoon we spent time observing our Brine Shrimp we started with Mr. Finn. Almost all of us had shrimp that have hatched. It was really neat to watch them, even if they are small. We found it pretty amazing that something that has been stored away in a dormant state, can come to life once it is hydrated. The kids really looked at them closely, fed them, and then made some scientific observations about them. We will continue to watch them the rest of this week to see what changes they make.
In math we quickly reviewed fractions after taking another times test. Several of us are working so hard for the next division lunch so I am throwing those times tests in any chance I get! The more I can reward the better! They do have a home link to finish up tonight, but it is a SHORT one! We thought they deserved a break from journal pages! =)
Today I did get to eat with my March Players of the Week. These kiddos do an AWESOME job all of the time and I am always super proud of their efforts! A big GOOD JOB shout out goes to Olivia, Gavin, Gaby, and Skylie. We had a great time at BIG CHEESE!
Tonight they may need to finish:
1. home link 8.5
2. spelling page 87-88
3. daily fix it morning work
4. April's reading sheet that goes along with our story
Have a TERRIFIC evening!
