This week we are working to read more from our story, "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler". We almost finished chapter four today, but just plain ran out of time so we we wrap it up in the morning. I do have to wonder just who created such a beautiful statue and how in the world the museum managed to get their hands on it for ONLY $225.00. I also really like the simile used when comparing Jamie and Claudia's stomachs to an empty tube of toothpaste! I could almost feel their hunger pains as we read that part of the chapter today! If you can give me a simile in the comments of my blog today you will have earned yourself an extra treat in the morning! Be sure to use one of our TWO clue words in your example or it doesn't count! What will you compare??? I am hoping by the end of Friday we will have finished through chapter 7 in our books. Remember if you need to read any of it again or read any to catch up from being gone, you can check out our story tab and listen to each chapter. I already am loving the change in Claudia. I feel like this whole trip of hers has humbled her just a bit!
In math it is more AREA, AREA, AREA! I have to say we sure better be able to find the area after we finish this module. I have included a couple of examples for you to try tonight her in our blog. To earn an $2 you have to get both of them correct. In the comment section you have to tell me the area of both rectangles and you have to include the correct label. GOOD LUCK!
Our olympic project with second grade is going great! Tomorrow we will finish our packet and then start building our bobsleds and our courses. I can't wait to see your creativity at its finest. I am hoping that what we have learned about the bobsled event will help you when you begin building.
Don't forget that TOMORROW is VALENTINE'S DAY! Most of you have brought your valentines, but tomorrow is the LAST day to do so if you haven't. We will have our party in the afternoon so we will have time to take care of MATH and READING in the morning!
Thanks for being such GREAT kiddos today! YOU ROCK when you chose to!
Have a SUPER evening and I will see you in the morning!
