After PE we took time to do THREE KANSAS DAY CENTERS. At one center the kiddos did their part to make a SUNFLOWER CAKE out of chocolate cake, hershey kisses, twinkies, and some frosting! Our cakes turned out AMAZING and they tasted even better then they looked! At another center the kiddos cut out different words and then put them together to build SIX sentences about Kansas. They decided pretty quickly that CAPITAL LETTERS and PUNCTUATION was helpful! At the last center they PLAYED several different KANSAS DAY games on the computer. These centers took us right up to LUNCH TIME!
After lunch we finished our story of how the ORNATE BOX TURTLE became the state reptile. We thought it was pretty COOL that a 6th grade class from CALDWELL, KANSAS helped make this happen for us!
Then to end the day we CELEBRATED earning our AR POINTS for the MONTH of JANUARY by eating our YUMMY SUNFLOWER CAKE and watching "The Wizard of OZ". We have just a little more of it to finish up on Monday, but that's okay because if the weathermen are right, Monday and Tuesday might be a little COLDER then this week has been.
Have a SUPER weekend!
