For math, we completed our Number of the Day activities, then worked on creating pictographs in our math journals. We also had time to complete some of our new math stations for the week.
For language arts, we learned about action, linking and helping verbs. We added pages to our interactive notebooks, then completed some activities with verbs. We also started our new Big 5 activities for language arts today.
In science, we learned about two types of whales, Baleen and Toothed Whales. We learned that instead of teeth, Baleen Whales have baleen, which are flexible plates attached to the upper jaw. Toothed Whales do have teeth, which help them capture their prey. To find out which whale has the ability to catch more food, we performed a science experiment using combs, skewers and water pans to capture as much "food" as possible.
Finally, we finished our day with the January Character Counts assembly. Milo was named our Student of the Month for the trait of FAIRNESS! Congratulations, Milo! Tonight's homework is the reading calendar, English verb paper and spelling handwriting if the last two didn't get finished in class. Have a wonderful evening!!!
