With that said, we started our morning with a HANDWRITING morning work page. Today after about 30 minutes, I played our character counts song, and anyone who did not have their morning work page done had to CLIP DOWN. YIKES! Several kiddos found out quickly that they had better work instead of simply gabbing with their neighbor or they wouldn't like where their clip ended up being today.
After handwriting was finished we worked on our AGENDA and our DLR books. The kiddos did a SUPER job with these! I am close to having them do a few DLR lessons independently because I really think they have improved on them so much, but right now we are doing them together and it is a GREAT grammar lesson to kick start our morning.
Next, we worked on a FUN elf to get up in the hallway. With only three weeks until Christmas break, we have to squeeze in any CRAFT projects we have planned here and there or they just won't get done.
After Exploration Place science and PE we finished up our ELVES and then read some about Humphry the classroom hamster. We have just about finished up that book and I really want to finish it this week so we will be reading, reading, reading any chance we have. This will be good for the kiddos that have been enjoying the story as much as I have too, because our new AR challenge started last TUESDAY and will run until December 17th. New goals have been set for each kiddo so they need to be working hard to get QUALIFIED for our DECEMBER AR CELEBRATION! I did send home PIZZA HUT book-it certificates with anyone who qualified for our NOVEMBER celebration that we held last week! Those are stapled in their agendas.
After lunch we PRACTICED for our music program! Don't forget that is TOMORROW night at 7:00 at the high school. The kiddos sound AMAZING and I know you will ALL enjoy their performance! Mrs. Thompson has sent home a couple of notes about the program but don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions about it.
For math we "played" ... oops I mean STUDIED on the chrome books with all kids of MEASUREMENT games! On the CALENDAR tab at the bottom of the page you can check out what all we are learning. Some of the games were TOUGH but we worked through the problems together and that seemed to help. The chrome books make teaching with technology so fun because EVERYONE can have their OWN computer and be at the same place at the same time! =)
