We started our morning by doing a little cleaning because that darn Preston had some fun in our room with some fake snow so we had to use our word work shaving creme to clean all the tables in the room. At least we like playing with the shaving creme which made cleaning up a little more fun then it could have been! After cleaning we joined Mrs. Day's side for a joint class meeting and to make a to do list for our morning! These lists sure have helped us stay on task and been a great way for us to see exactly what needs to happen before lunch time.
During calendar time we took care of finishing up our December calendar pages. We are going to be switching up our calendar books some over break so once we finished calendar time we cleaned out our binders and took out August through December pages. All of those pages are in manilla envelopes for you at home to see what we've been up to this first semester! It's hard to believe half of the year is over!
Next, we worked on finishing up our personal narratives. These things have been a long process for us, but we have learned a lot! We know how to write leads better then we did in August. Our word choice is stronger then it was. We even have learned how to do a little editing of our own. Today we worked on typing our final copies! I am excited for the kids to be able to share what they have been working on. Writing can be tough, but I am very proud of how hard all of them have worked! In January we will start working on an opinion piece! The more we write, the better writers we will be!
This afternoon, we buckled down and tried to find Santa's toy sack! We divided into teams and started by reading the first clue. Each team worked hard to solve the puzzles, decipher the riddles, and answer the questions about the different Christmas traditions around the world. As groups were able to discover answers they had to go and find different clue cards to bring back to Mrs. Day and I for the next envelope of puzzles. This escape room really made us think, but we have 3 groups that were able to finish before we ran out of time! All 3 of these groups found Santa's toy sack and saved Christmas so they will get to shop at our classroom store first tomorrow!
Don't forget that tomorrow is our Class Christmas Party so if you have not brought your GAME please do so in the morning! I am super excited about all we have planned to take us in to Winter Break!
See you all in the morning!
