We also made three dimensional EARTH'S today, reviewing the LAYERS of the Earth and all we have been learning in Science. We discovered the closer we get to the center of the Earth the hotter the temperatures get. None of us thought we would like living there! Everyone was very grateful for the conditions we experience on Earth after learning something about each of the layers.
After this we listened once more to our story, "A Day's Work" and discussed how learning a little more about plants may have helped Fransico and Abuelo with the work they did for Ben so we took some time to make our very own flowers. We started by attaching roots to the stems and then added sepals and petals. Some of us even had time to add a few leaves and vines. If Ben would have taught Fransico what we learned today then NO ice plants would have been pulled from the garden!
We decided after the pumpkins, Earths, and plants it had been a "make it take it" kind of day! I was very proud of how hard the kiddos worked to finish everything up! We did take time to do one reading page which some of them may have had to finish up tonight! They also had a math measurement home link to do for homework. We are starting Chapter 3 in math which deals with lots of measuring! I was SUPER proud of Hunter Worley and Vivian Lin. They were the two who earned 100%'s on the Chapter 2 math test and were able to CELEBRATE by earning a pop and $5 of classroom money! WAY TO GO YOU TWO! Lots of kids did much, much better on this test then they did on the Chapter 1 test so that is GREAT NEWS!
Bake sale is quickly approaching. Please send items if you have not already. We will use the money the kids earn to help with classroom expenses, field trips, and activities we have planned for third grade! We are planning on a GREAT MONEY MAKING day and the kids are really excited about it. It will be held Wednesday afternoon so you still have time to bake!
The book fair is also going on and today we were able to visit it and make a wish list of books we would like. If you have time while you are here for conferences please stop by and visit it. There are lots and lots of really good books available and EVERYONE found a few things they would LOVE to have!
Sorry this is a little later then usual, but tonight I have been at a baseball game cheering on RYAN JENKINS, my son, and the rest of the NEWMAN JETS! Boy was it a GREAT night for a ballgame!
See you all tomorrow!
