We started with our morning routine. We took care of our DLR and our AGENDA work first thing. Next, our weekly helpers took care of their jobs so we could get on with today's work. Winter and Max are loving that we have 3 vets and so am I. =)
In reading we worked on how to read a passage and then skim the passage to find the answer. I have noticed on several internet scavenger hunts that the class is struggling to READ to find an answer so the workbook page we did together today helped us PRACTICE how to do that! It was a good lesson and they all seemed to have NO trouble with reading and finding the answers so I am anxious to see how much better they do on a scavenger hunt next week.
Next we read a book about Mexico and Manuel, Diego, and Destiny taught us a few words in SPANISH so we would be ready for our trip to FABIOLA'S. The book taught us so much about the culture and we had a hard time waiting for LUNCH!
Mr. Creed came in to teach us about gardening and the best way to grow a plant. We learned an awful lot from him and had some really good questions for him! Did you realize that all of the plants Dillons floral department sells come from Columbia? We saw the difference between cut flowers and plants and he explained some of his responsibilities to us. We were surprised to learn that Mother's Day and Memorial Day are his two biggest delivery days! We were guessing it was Valentines Day. Before he left he gave our class some samples to try and grow. We planted those today so we can put his gardening advice to the test!
For lunch we hiked to FABIOLA'S. It was an AWESOME experience for both students and teachers. The kiddos were AMAZING. They all did a great job and enjoyed some delicious food! We do want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Fabiola's because they had everything set up for us and the buffet was DELICIOUS! We ate, practiced our Spanish words, and learned a little about the restaurant business as we helped clean up our area. =)
This afternoon, we took care of our BEANS and PUMPKINS and were SURPRISED to find that some of our pumpkins had grown a bunch! We replanted our bean seeds in to cups because Mr. Creed taught us that seeds should not just sit in water. A lot of our seeds had sprouted and we think they will really take off in the soil! By the end of next week beans and pumpkins will be coming home!
To end the day we started packaging our things for the BAKE SALE. The kiddos are SUPER excited about this! We will be selling items in the all purpose room from 1:40-3:00 so if you want to stop by please feel free to! We have TONS of GOODIES thanks to GREAT parents like yourselves!
Tonight have the kiddos be sure their HOMEWORK PACKETS are finished please!
Have a SUPER evening!
