After morning meeting and calendar book, we jumped right in to Math Rotations. We worked on word problems and using CLUE words to help us know how to solve it. Comment below for a dollar if this would be an addition problem, subtraction problem, multiplication problem, or division problem, AND you will get a bonus dollar if you tell me what the equation for this word problem is:
Suzie has 14 Pokemon cards. She gives 6 to her friend. How many Pokemon cards does she have left?
In the afternoon, we listened to Penguin Chick another time and worked on our vocabulary words from the story. Since we were out of school yesterday, we decided to take our Selection Test on Friday so you have an extra day to work with the story . Don't forget about the Penguin Chick Tab on our website. It is a great place to reread the story, practice vocabulary words, and to practice spelling words.
To end our day, we split up into our penguin groups and started sketching our life size penguins. If your group finished, you will get to paint your penguin to life tomorrow! These are looking GREAT! I can't wait to see them all painted and up on the wall in the hallway!
No reading calendar this week since it's a short week. BUT, if you haven't met your AR goal, time is counting down so make sure you have a book to test on!
Have a terrific evening!
PS... I do want to let parents know that my evenings seem to be getting shorter and shorter all of the time. I told the kiddos today that I really, really, really don't want to quit blogging because I feel like communication between home and school is so important. I am struggling to find the time each night, however. I told the kiddos today that I PROMISE to blog EVERY MONDAY and FRIDAY for sure so you at home can see what is coming up this week and and what we were able to accomplish by the end of each week. In the middle of the week I will communicate though my remind text alerts. Please sign up for those if you have not already. So sorry to have to make this change, but too many irons in the fire are making things more difficult for me right now.
No school on Tuesday due to the COLD!
Wednesday - Life size penguins are getting painted. Get ready to roll up your sleeves and finish this project up.
Thursday - I will be at a building leadership meeting all day so I am counting on my class to help the substitute by being on their very best behavior! We can earn 2 thumbs up for an AMAZING sub report when I get back.
Friday - Penguin Chick selection test and our 3 minute multiplication test!
