Today was a GREAT day! We were SUPER busy and got lots done! Our morning was packed full with Reading, Exploration Place Science, and PE.
During our reading time, I was able to listen to EVERY kiddo read. Our fluency is improving all of the time so KUDDOS to YOU at HOME for practicing that reading. Anytime you can listen to your child read is AWESOME and really helps me out at school. Our fluency reading data is collected by me listening to them for 1 minute and then seeing how many words they were able to CORRECTLY read during that time. Try some night to even have them read out loud from one of their library books for a minute. Then, count the number of words they were able to get through. Fluency is a key part of becoming MATURE READERS. Practice, practice, practice is the key to being GOOD at this!
Our science lesson with Ms. Greer was all about EROSION. The kids did a FANTASTIC job during the discussion and I was very happy with what they remembered from our class experiment on Friday. After we demonstrated erosion with animals, wind, and water we looked at landforms that have been formed because of erosion. Some pretty cool things have been created for us to enjoy!
This afternoon we took care of our math lesson and competed to see which team could make $1.00 lots of different ways the fastest. Then we learned all about PARTIAL SUMS addition. This is a new method for them, but one that really helps with mastering PLACE VALUE which some of us still need a little help with.
Tonight the kids may need to finish:
