What a GREAT day! We are working SUPER hard to fit EVERYTHING in to only TWO days this week! The kids did an EXCELLENT job today so that we could enjoy all that we had planned! We started off with a BANG taking care of our morning routine. Then, we had a quick review of the words SINGULAR and PLURAL so that we ALL could master our morning work page. After this we went straight in to looking at how well we have done with earning AR points so far this year! Lyric and Kate were able to move their footballs ALL the way up to the 30 YARD LINE! Woo Hoo! Several kiddos added footballs to the 10 yard line. They are striving to reach the goal line at the 100 yard line by the end of the year! I shared with them that the NEW AR challenge actually started today and will end on December 16th by the end of the day. Since this is a shorter time to read, I am only asking each kiddo to EARN 3 points. Hopefully they won't wait until the last minute this month. Over Thanksgiving break, if they are traveling, they may want to throw a book in the car! Those who qualified this month LOVED eating in the classroom and making delicious ice cream sundaes today! Enjoy the pictures of our PARTY!
After lunch and PARTYING they headed to music to practice for their upcoming program. Don't forget to mark your calendar for December 8th! The are sounding WONDERFUL and I am soooo excited for this event! Once music was over, everyone enjoyed watching the start of A Big Miracle which is a movie that features a scenario very similar to the one we just read about in A Symphony of Whales. We stopped the movie today just as the climax was showing so I think they are all anxiously waiting to see what happens to the whales.
I had to leave for a short time this afternoon to run my husband to the hospital and was back just as they were leaving to go home and progress reports had not been handed out to them yet, so they WILL be bringing those home tomorrow! Also they were suppose to get notes about a bake sale our Kids Leadership Club is having tomorrow. Those were not passed out to them so I am relaying the message here. The money raised will go towards purchasing Christmas items for a couple of kiddos on the angel tree.
Tonight they may have to finish:
-journal page 94
-singular and plural noun workbook page
Have a TERRIFIC evening!
Our hope to encourage the children in our classroom to love learning the way we do. Through engaging them in meaningful activities we are certain they will develop a curiosity that will spark their imagination and cause them to want discover all they can while in third grade. We hope to be able to share, with those of you at home, everyday what we have accomplished in the classroom! Trust us, we will be doing AMAZING things!
