Then, poor Mr. Chalmers was out sick today! We sure do hope he is better tomorrow because we miss him when he is gone! We sure are glad we have AMAZING kiddos in our room though, because several people stepped up and helped. Mrs. Jenkins was able to help Blake with his schedule and then several others jumped in and helped by taking care of lots of things that Mr. Chalmers usually does for us! I LOVED the enthusiasm to pitch in and help out!
Our morning meeting was another good one! We were able to ALL say hello to Mr. Easton Macias after we read his joke and then we greeted one another with another "Would you rather" questions! We were able to take care of ALL three things, CALENDAR BOOK, SPELLING, and HANDWRITING all before we spent some time on GENIUS HOUR penguin projects! Today Mrs. Elder came in and used her SWIVEL camera on us so that she could see exactly what type of things we do during this part of our day! Tomorrow each group will present their projects and we will be sure to video tape presentations so you at home can see what we have been up to!
Then we played a review KAHOOT game to get ready for our selection test. After our review we jumped on our chrome books to take our selection test! This was a BIG OH MY moment because the test did not work like we had hoped it would. Our kiddos are sure were patient with us during this experience! The test did not work like we had hoped it would and there was NO WAY for them to submit their answers to us! They listened though and we were able to grab their scores while they were at specials in the afternoon. Without the right group of kiddos this could have been a lot worse than an "OH MY" moment! We sure do appreciate everyone's patience!
In the afternoon we worked on math and witnessed another one of those "OH MY" moments as things during our math rotations were left out and not cleaned up properly. Our classroom police officers always check our room to see that things have been cleaned up properly when we rotate to our next activity. Today LOTS of things were left out and not cleaned up so we had to end our day running a few laps for the things we forgot to put away. It was too muddy to run on the playground so we had to run around the school. It might seem silly to have to run but we sure are working hard to instill responsibility in our kiddos and this seems to help us remember the expectations. Mrs. Day and I did have to chuckle a little though because for some reason or another this class loves to tattle on each other about things not being put away instead of just pitching in and picking up things that we seen on the ground as we clean up. We must like to run... that's all I can figure out. I mean if it was me... and trust me running is NOT my thing... I would probably watch the floor all the way over to sing the song and if I saw anything out along the way I would put it away or throw it away even if it WASN'T mine! Helping clean up is better than running laps if you ask me!!
Tomorrow is our NEXT HOUSE CHALLENGE do so please don't forget to wear your HOUSE SHIRT! We've got some pretty AMAZING things planned to end our week! Can't wait to see you all in the morning!
