Later in the afternoon, the students worked on a poetry project. In our story, one of Mr. Kang's birthday wishes was to pain poetry every day. Today, the students created a poem.

They then got a piece of newspaper. We burned the edged to add some special effects. They then painted a symbol on their paper to represent their noun. Once their decorating was all finished, they glued their poem to their newspaper. These projects look AMAZING! I was worried they would have trouble, since we've been struggling on creativity. However, they weren't scared and did it! =) I'm so proud of these independent workers!
In the afternoon, we reread our story. The selection test will be on Thursday! Then, we did a venn-diagram with the Chinese New Year and the American New Year. They had to compare and contrast the two holidays. There were many similarities and many differences.
Our final activity for the day was our mystery reader. She was unable to come the last two Fridays because of assemblies. It was Mrs. Sawyer. She read us a S is for Sunflower. This was a story that gave us the ABCs of Kansas.
-Tomorrow we are going to Good Taste for lunch!
- Bring $1 for Chocolate Roses! =) (If you would like)
-"If You" stories are due!
-Any late work and you will not be allowed to eat at Good Taste.
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening!!
