In the morning, we reviewed Lesson 5 and 6 over division by creating some review pages for our math interactive notebook. Then, we practiced our multiplication flash cards and sang our multiplication songs before taking our times test. I will grade these this weekend! I was super excited to see so many of you finish before the three minutes was up! Now, I just hope your answers are right! =)
We continued our morning with some spelling review and our spelling test over ICE and ACE words. I LOVE how we are doing with our hunk and chunks. They really help us think about how to spell our words.
We ended our morning of hard work with the Estimation Jar. We had Sixlets candy inside the jar and we filled out our graph to find our statistical landmarks, like our range, mode, and median. Once that was all finished, we found out that we had 2 winners who guessed the EXACT amount of 32 candies: Evie and Ethan! Way to go! Man on man! One of these weeks the winner is going to come from our side of the room! Miss Jamison's class always seems to steal the candy away from us! This week Dru and Abbi were only one away and we thought for sure they were going to win, but then low and behold 2 people on Miss J's side were right on the MONEY! Good for them!
We were going to test our bridges during Genius Hour today, but unfortunately, nobody was able to pass the test. Every single bridge was either too narrow for a car to drive on, or they had no way to get on and off the bridge. Hopefully we get our thinking caps on before NEXT week. So instead we worked on finishing up our very own coloring pages and got our bubble gum writing up in the hallway! FINALLY, that project is done. We made some AMAZING coloring pages! Check out reallycolor.com at home to do some of this on your own if you liked how they turned out!
When we got back from Specials, the fun began! First, we made biscuits pizzas with our friends at our tables. While they were baking, we took our bartering items and exchanged with our classmates at the marketplace. Hopefully, many of you left with a new and exciting item! This was AMAZING to watch! We had some set up booths, some do some serious discussing before exchanging, and some do a lot of milling around, but then never trading. We've got some natural SALESMEN and WOMEN in our class!
To end our afternoon, we opened our classroom store for the very first time. Some of you decided to be savers, where you wanted to save your money to buy bigger items later on. Some of you are spenders, and you spent every last dollar you had! Hopefully you people with $0 in your checking accounts don't get fined next week!
Enjoy your nice, long weekend because there is no school on Monday. I will get pizza pictures posted this weekend! Can't wait until Tuesday!
