Today we hurried through our morning meeting, calendar book, and spelling practice page so that we could get to DAILY 5 ROTATIONS 10 minutes early because we have built up our stamina on READ TO SELF and WORD WORK so we needed to learn all about TECH TIME and what exactly RAZ KIDS is! I am so happy to announce that even though we were hurrying through this daily routine we were able to draw 2 squares from our BEHAVIOR BINGO board because we were just that AWESOME today! Everyone got right to work on what they needed to which allowed me to help a few people that were gone yesterday and also meet with a few people and help them fix a few mistakes on their papers from yesterday! I sure love mornings like this so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU third grade! What a great way to start our day!
Now to explain a little about RAZ KIDS for you at home. This is an excellent reading A to Z source that helps each kiddo pick just right books that they can read, that can be read to them, or a combination of the two. Once they read a book 3 times they can take a short quiz over the book. After passing all of the quizzes in their level they are considered to have LEVELED UP and will make it on our SURF PRO board! They did an AMAZING job checking out this site today. During tech time they have the chance to use RAZ KIDS or also explore our story of the week tab on our website! Either choice is a good one!
During this rotation we had the opportunity to go have our pictures taken! Every one of us looked so SHARP! I think we definitely had the best looking class at IKE! Thank you for taking care of getting those packets turned back in. I know the kiddos probably don't especially like dressing up for this day, but man oh man if I only had a little more money... I would have made sure a stretch limo picked us up and took us out to eat for lunch because they ALL looked so nice today! Pictures will be AMAZING I am certain!
Next, we took time to start making our very own BOOM TOWN in third grade. We talked about what a COMMUNITY might need and then worked on dividing up into different committees so that every part of our community could be taken care of. We have a street department, a parks and recreation department, a fire department, a police department, a housing department, and so much more! Our community even has an airport! The kiddos did a SUPER JOB day one of this! Although we started with a pretty blank deserted field, by the end of day one a community is starting to take place. I can't wait to see what more work tomorrow will bring! The creative juices were flowing in our room that's for sure!
To end our morning Ms. Tina had made us a blueberry pie in a SKILLET just like AMANDA had in our story. We each got to pick the skillet up to see how heavy it was and then we all got a taste! It was DELICIOUS! Thanks Ms. Tina for helping us better understand what Amanda had been up to! This just made me more excited for FRIDAY when we each get to make our own APPLE PIES! YUM YUM!!
This afternoon we had just enough time to work more with DIVISION and MULTIPLICATION in math. So many kiddos have both papers from the MENU folders this week already done so during that rotation they are busy playing our games. Also I had some checking out DREAM BOX and a few others working on those facts by using REFLEX when it came time for them to be at MATH by MYSELF on the chromebooks!
At the end of the day we took time to hear what Mrs. Elder had to tell us about the chocolate bar fundraiser that kicked off today! If you brought back a signed note from mom or dad you took home chocolate today! Don't forget that chocolate bars sell for $1 a piece and each box means you will turn in $60 to the office once it is sold!
Have a super evening! Remember I have a building leadership team meeting tomorrow so please be have for Mrs. Renn and I will see you all on Friday!
