In Reading we added more to our class volcano! We decided today that something this big and this scary had to be called Mount Saint Jenkins! LOL. This made me laugh out loud! We are almost done with it and we will be hanging it in the hallway so if you have a chance to stop in sometime next week you can check it out! The kids are awfully proud of their work!
Besides our class volcano a few of them read a book about volcanoes and managed to score an 80% or better on the AR test over the story so they are building paper mache volcanoes to share with the class. This should be AWESOME when they finish. We have to build the volcano, paint the volcano, and then finally we will be ready for some eruptions. Trust me when I say that if they did not do well on their AR test they were quickly finding other volcano stories to read and test on. I explained to them that if they will read the story a couple of times before testing it might help them do better on the AR test especially when the story they are reading is a nonfiction one full of facts!
To end the day we made a Daily 5 Choice, cleaned up, and then headed outside for a recess because let's face it, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful afternoon!
Please don't forget to read for your calendar and to bring those cans in! 5th grade is still in first place and that just isn't right! Our Kids Leadership Club kiddos are working hard to keep our totals updated so let's all do our part and bring in some cans!
I will give anyone who tells me something that can be done in seconds in the comments an extra $3 at our morning meeting. Remember 60 seconds are in a minute and for you to list something it has to be able to be done in less than one minute! Test it before you type it, because I don't pay for things that take me longer than a minute to do tomorrow.
See you all in the morning!
