We did Lesson 7 in math today over turn around facts - which is also called the COMMUTATIVE PROPERTY. If you can tell me a turn around fact in the comments, I'll pay you $3 tomorrow at Morning Meeting. We finished math rotations, then started on our new story called "Alexander Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday." It's about a boy named Alexander who just couldn't seem to keep all the money he earned - I wonder how he lost it? We will find out tomorrow! After a quick review over the 4 types of sentences, it was time for recess. I heard you got a little wet as the rain started right before lunch time and you barely got in from recess in time!
Genius Hour was all about a boy named Caine who opened a cardboard arcade in LA. He DEFINITELY thought like a genius to come up with ways to make the different games, prizes, fun passes, tickets, and advertisements. It made us think about what we could do to make some money. We decided a lemonade stand would be PERFECT! On Friday, our lemonade stand will open for business so we have a lot of work to do in Genius Hour this week.
In the afternoon we did math stations and daily 5. Then we started a new read aloud book called "The Lemonade War." This book is PERFECT since it goes along with money and lemonade, just like we are learning about this week! Can't wait for you all to listen to some more!
New reading calendars went home tonight. Many of you still have a ways to go to meet your AR goal, so READ READ READ!
Can't wait until TOMORROW!
