Today, we jumped right in to taking care of business! We elected a new mayor so a big congratulations goes out to Miss Reagan Ewing! She will be in charge this month and I know she will do a FANTASTIC job! We also hired a new secretary, Dru Zeka, a new treasurer, Caleb Sawyer, a new custodian, Sawyer Richmond, a couple new police officers, Chance Lassitor and Rhys Sanders, a couple new vets, Lani Ast and Sunni Shore, and a new meteorologist, Luke Zeka! If I left someone out, I am truly sorry! This old brain of mine is trying to think of everyone who was hired! I think I got almost everyone listed here! Congratulations to everyone who was hired for the month of February! I know you will make me proud and take care of business!
In math we are rocking and rolling in our new book! We are learning all about AREA and have learned that even if the area of two different shapes is 12 it doesn't necessarily mean that the two shapes have the same area! If you can explain why this is so in the comments, I just might treat you to some breakfast in the morning! Think about what we did today at TEACHER TIME to help you with your explanation! It is the second week of working on the new MENU and already 2 girls have finished ALL of their MUST DO's! WAY TO GO MISS EVIE EWING AND MISS ELLIE HAYS! You two girlies are staying on task and knocking things right out of the ballpark! I am super proud of both of you! As for the rest of you, remember your goal is to finish ONE MUST DO every single day! You should not play bingo or any other MAY DO game until all must do's are done! Ask yourself how many you have finished and see if you should take one or two home to work on to get back on track!
In reading we have started a novel study. We are reading "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler". We have only finished chapter one, but we have already learned tons of information and are seeing lots of new vocabulary words. Today Miss Claudia Kincaid decided to let her brother Jaime accompany her on her runaway adventure. He was a good choice in my opinion because he has CASH which will be nice when mom and dad aren't around to pay for things! Do you think the kids have chosen a good place to runaway to? Imagine staying in a museum even for one night, let alone for several while you were trying to teach your parents a lesson! I sure can't wait to see how this story turns out! More to come tomorrow!
To end the day we raced to the bus because reading about the runaways kept us busy until the bell rang. Please make sure you take care of your reading calendars! This month's reading steam team is earned once you read and test over 3 NONFICTION books. Also new AR goals have been set and FEBRUARY is a short month so get after it so we ALL can qualify for the next celebration!
Hope you are having a GREAT evening!
