In Genius Hour, we put on our genius hats and thought like a construction engineer. Our task was to figure out how to keep our paper houses safe from the wind. This reminds us of how we build our houses in Kansas to keep them safe from tornadoes. Unfortunately, some groups had to end Genius Hour early for not following directions. But the groups who stayed on task came up with some amazing construction ideas! We will do a similar activity with Mr. Tom from Exploration Place next Monday.
Since it is Dr. Seuss week, we started a very special project in reading today. Small groups of students are going to create their very own rhyming book with as many rhyming words as possible. You will write the story and illustrate the pages on Thursday. Today we did some brainstorming to figure out what words we could use to write our story. We can't WAIT to see what you come up with!
In math, we continued our lessons with fractions on a number line. Many of you are finished with your math menu and museum rooms, so you are enjoying the early finisher games! Way to go! Here is what your schedule for Thursday will look like:
Dr. Seuss Story with your group
Explore Dr. Seuss on the classroom website
Dr. Seuss Activity with Miss Chelsea from the library
Daily 5 Time (No Prime Time)
Specials - Music & Library
3 Math Rotations (No Prime Time)
Stack Up/Pack Up
Please be AMAZING students for your substitute teachers. We KNOW you will make us proud. Try to earn LOTS of beads for your house, because we have told the substitute teachers about house beads. Have an amazing day!
