We started this morning by finishing "Mr. Popper's Penguins" that we had started watching on Friday. We had just a tad bit more to watch and since it was a little chilly in our room this morning we thought it put us in an ARTIC mood so we wrapped up the movie first thing.
We then took a little bit of time to look at this week's story tab. Our story is "Symphony of Whales" and there are some really neat whale facts on our website so if you have time in the next couple of weeks, be sure to check it out. After looking at the website, we worked in our INTERACTIVE READING NOTEBOOKS. Those things are almost FULL! We have so much vocabulary stuffed in them that we have built ourselves a nice little resource!
After interactive notebooks were finished up we took some time in the all purpose room to launch our EXPLORATION PLACE ROCKETS. Most of us were able to do this before the bottle of our HOMEMADE ROCKET LAUNCHER sprung an air leak! The rest of us will finish this up tomorrow! These rockets hit the ceiling and came shooting back down. One of them flew in a circle clearing the big screen above the stage. We all thought that launch was really cool!
In math we worked on our MULTIPLICATION again and then did some math boxes on a journal page. We will finish that journal page up tomorrow so we can work on MAPPING SKILLS.
In centers today we:
1. Jenkins Time - took a spelling pretest. New word lists are in EVERYONE'S
agenda. The kiddos need to be studying these words over the next two
2. Wencel Time - worked on PROBLEM SOLVING skills! Whew was this a
tought one for those of us who don't like to think!
3. Technology Time - listened to the story and then explored the story tab.
4. Game Time - worked on an ANIMAL scavenger hunt
To end the day we looked at a couple of things over Martin Luther King Jr. The Kid President video clip on our STORY TAB was really neat and some kiddos might want to look at it again! We discussed words like "segregation" and "civil rights" which was a neat way to end the day.
Tonight be sure to check backpacks for HOMEWORK PACKETS. Those are due on Friday morning again this week!
Have a super evening and try and stay WARM!
