We started the morning taking care of a few of yesterday's left over papers! That didn't take us long at all! Then we finished up our DOL book which is a quick grammar review for us. We correct some silly sentences, spell some words correctly, and look at sentences for new words that we may not know the meaning of! EVERYONE did a SUPER job with this!
Then we worked in our READING INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK by completing a vocabulary web which stressed some important words from our story this week. I LOVED the discussion we had about being RESIDENTS of WELLINGTON and how we might open a STORE of our own someday to help the ECONOMY! WOO HOO! Those words were pretty big and for us to know the meanings was IMPRESSIVE!
Next, we finished up our MONDAY - TUESDAY READING CENTERS! The kiddos did an AWESOME job with these! Remember their centers consisted of:
1. Taking a SPELLING PRETEST with me. Their words are in their agendas and the
very first spelling test will be on Friday, September 11th!
2. Making a VOCABULARY DICTIONARY. They will work on these until FRIDAY. But by FRIDAY they should all be done!
3. Listening to the story on our computers and then checking out all of the cool things
on our STORY TAB.
4. Working at their seats on a JOURNAL activity where they had the chance to answer
a few questions about a COMMUNITY of their own!
Please take a few minutes to ask your son or daughter what centers they have finished and what ones they are still working on.
After lunch we dove right in to MATH! We used fruit loops today to complete our RANDOM NUMBER activity. We all decided there were lots more ODD NUMBERS used then EVEN NUMBERS today! Then we gobbled up our fruit loops and started on the journal page. Our journal page was all about filling out a 100 board but with really BIG numbers. We counted by ones, tens, and hundreds and did a FABULOUS job! After we all had a chance to finish that page we took a DILLONS AD and did a little shopping. We had to find 9 items from my shopping list and cut the prices out and glue them to our paper. TOMORROW we will find the total of my shopping trip so I will know just how much money to take to the store!
Tonight EVERYONE has ONE MATH pattern sheet for homework. Please CHECK BLUE homework FOLDERS and make sure your child finishes that at home and brings it back to me at school tomorrow!
Have a GREAT evening!
