Congrats to Pete for guessing 58 candy canes, when there were actually 76. He wasn't too faroff, so he won the prize! Also congrats to Anna for getting the Problem of the Week right with her guess of UNDERGROUND.
We rounded out our morning with some Daily 5 Time to give everyone a chance to finish any area they needed to before we graded papers. Several kiddos need to still finish up their WRITING folders from this week. Next week, I have put together some pretty cool things about snow for us to write about so don't get behind with these please.
Our spelling test was in the afternoon and I hope we did a good job practicing ou and ow words. Next week we will have oy and oi words. It's important to STUDY at home as well as at school to really, truly learn those patterns.
Our day finished up with some fun penguin activities. We made cream cheese and black olive penguins, then drew a picture of a penguin. We will use these drawings next week with a science experiment about waxy wings.
I hope everyone stays safe and warm in the icy weather that's coming. Enjoy your Monday off and see you on TUESDAY!
