Anyway... it took me until half way through the morning to realize that OH MY GOODNESS it was already WEDNESDAY! I couldn't believe it! We have so much to do this week and we are already half way through it! Where does the time go!
This morning we were extremely busy with our MORNING ROUTINE. We have new employees and that always makes for an extra busy FIRST DAY ON THE JOB type of morning. Our Mayor is Mr. Pete Scott again so that's nice because he has had that role before and knew just what to do. Our secretaries are Mr. Reid Walker and Miss Claire Ginter. They are both new to the position, but we had Miss Sophie Soria back at school today and she is definitely a secretary expert so she helped them out! Our treasurer Miss Lyndi Barton was gone today so our substitute Mr. Josh Adams had to fill in and pay people. I LOVE having a substitute just for this reason! We even hired a couple photographers this month because we are always doing something picture worthy in third grade! I will have them snap a picture of all my new employees for our blog tomorrow.
After our morning routine was finished up we worked on a handwriting page with our NEW SPELLING WORDS. I was super impressed with how well the kiddos remembered our HUNK and CHUNKS for the week and how quickly they could get through our SPELLING SORT activity. We were so speedy that we even took time for a FUN spelling scramble activity! Miss Jamison had taken some of our scrabble pieces and stuck them in different sealed containers. We had to shake the container to mix up the tiles and then dump them out and unscramble the spelling word. There were 10 of these for us to figure out and MOST of us did a SUPER job with this.
Next, we read our story "Volcanoes: Nature's Incredible Fireworks" and then let Milo show us how to have his very own ERUPTION. He had made a volcano of his own and brought it in to share it with the class. We read his information and then watched the eruption. Afterwards, we ALL wanted to make a volcano, so EVERYONE got a bottle of water to drink so that we could use the EMPTY bottles to construct our volcanoes.
We are super excited because over the next two weeks we are planning:
3rd grade is going to be BUSY learning a little about CHEMICAL REACTIONS, some about the LAYERS OF THE EARTH, and alot about BLOWING THINGS UP! Our photographers will try and keep up with it all so you at home can enjoy the pictures.
Tonight please don't forget that they do have a READING CALENDAR to take care of in their TAKE HOME FOLDERS. Also Thursday is our AR cut off for OCTOBER so if they haven't earned their LION yet they need to be reading.
Have a TERRIFIC evening!
