We also spent a lot of time this morning talking about our upcoming state assessments. We took some time to look at a sample test to see just how the test was set up and how to use the computer to drag answers where they need to go. Technology makes these tests so much easier then when I took them and had to fill in all the silly ovals! That's showing my age a bit I bet! The kids will start these tomorrow. The schedule is as follows:
This week: Tuesday, Day 1 of the Language Arts test
Wednesday, Day 2 of the Language Arts test
Thursday, Day 3 of the Language Arts test
Friday, the performance test for Language Arts
Then, next week we will tackle the MATH. SInce this week we are doing so much testing in READING, we will NOT begin a new story in our READING textbooks. We will be reading "The Chocolate Touch" and doing some fun activiites with that short story instead. There will be NO new spelling words this week and next week there will be NO spelling test or reading selection test. Trust me, the kids will be working hard enough with the state assessments that they don't need any other TESTS thrown their way.
We did our math centers this afternoon. We began chapter 8 which is all about FRACTIONS. They did extrememly well at my center and MOST of them finished their journal pages here at school today! WOO HOO!
Tonight they may need to finish:
1. Their morning work WEEK 1 paper
2. Math journal 179-180
3. Their MATH seat work page
*Don't forget also to get out and get those PLEDGES for our COLOR RUN! Third grade is hoping to be the TOP GRADE earner. We really want to earn a PIZZA and a DONUT party!
Have a GREAT evening!
